More then 2000 US Troops is ready for deployment in Israeli-Hamas conflict
Pentagon has issued "prepare for deployment" notices to approximately 2,000 U.S. troops, with the readiness to respond to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin states that this deployment aims to enable the United States to respond more rapidly to the crisis. However, it's important to note that the White House has emphasized that this move does not intend to involve U.S. combat forces on the ground. According to National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, the preparation of troops for deployment is primarily a signal of deterrence.
"Prepare for deployment notices given by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin enhances the Department of Defense's (DoD) capacity to swiftly adapt to the changing security situation in the Middle East," stated Pentagon's Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh on Tuesday. "Currently, there's no resolution to send out any troops. The Secretary will persistently review our military stance and keep a tight communication line with our allies and collaborators."
If preparations indeed lead to deployment, U.S. personnel from various units stationed across the Middle East and Europe are expected to assume supporting roles. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report on the potential deployment. The Pentagon has not specified the number of troops, if any, that would be deployed within Israel's borders or whether personnel would be stationed outside the country. Direct involvement in combat by U.S. infantry is not anticipated at this time, as reported by the WSJ.
